When you use Cloud AI, Legal Vault detects likely sensitive data such as ID numbers, phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses before anything is sent, then transfers only the masked content you confirm.

Are my documents sent to external servers?
Document storage, indexing, and Local AI work are processed on your PC, so documents and prompts are not sent to external servers. When you explicitly use a feature that requires an external connection—such as Cloud AI, external legal information lookup, or collaboration and sharing—the data needed for that feature is transmitted with your consent or explicit action.
Can I use it without internet?
You can search documents and use Local AI without internet after installing the required Local AI model, as long as your offline entitlement remains valid. Cloud AI, external legal information lookup, collaboration, and synchronization require internet. Offline access remains valid until the earlier of 14 days after the last online verification or your subscription end date; after that, you must reconnect to verify your subscription.
Is my data safe when using cloud AI?
Using Cloud AI sends the content needed for the task to an external AI service. By default, Legal Vault detects potential personal information such as ID numbers and phone numbers and provides a masking preview for review before transmission. Masking reduces exposure risk but cannot guarantee that every item of personal information will be detected or protected, so review the content before sending it.
Which formats can I view in the file viewer?
The file viewer opens PDF, DOCX, HWP/HWPX, XLSX, CSV, PPTX, RTF, HTML, Markdown, text files such as TXT, JSON, and XML, common image, video, and audio formats, EML email files, and ZIP, TAR, and GZ archives. Display and search capabilities vary by format.
